“I had already said if they [Pakistan Cricket Board] produced him [Babar] captain of the three forms it is not the best decision. He doesn't have leadership quality,” Intikhab told Start on Friday while commenting on Pakistan's poor performance so far at the World Glass in Australia where the green-shirts lost their first two group-stage matches against arch-rivals India and Zimbabwe.
Babar and his guys today lie at a poor fifth place in class 2 just above the lowly Netherlands, Cricketnews and experience a plenty of ifs and buts on an extremely tough path to the semi-finals. Without any details in the bag, they have to win the remaining three class activities and also hope additional results come in their favour.
“It is dangerous for the staff to [excessively] is dependent upon the performance of openers Babar and Rizwan; when they crash to do in a fit, the staff comes under pressure,” the 80-year-old Intikab said below whose teaching and managership Pakistan gained the 1992 World Glass and the 2009 T20 World Cup.
“When you have cricketing feeling and scoreboard is facing you, then you need to know how exactly to go ahead; Babar lacks in checking the match situation and taking [timely] conclusions accordingly,” he remarked.
Intikhab criticised your decision to ask under-pressure spinner Mohammad Nawaz to dish the final around in the high-profile sport against India.
“Generally, it is the captain who must experience the blame with this [wrong call]. He must know who must dish when,” he emphasised.
On who can change Babar as skipper, Intikhab selected Shan Masood for the job.
“Shan, I know experience, gets the genes of captaincy at least for ODIs and T20 Internationals,” he opined.
Meanwhile, Intikhab also criticised the PCB for not taking full advantage in the home series against Britain by not preparing fast pitches.
“Pakistan have been finding your way through the World Glass for the last one year screening different [team] combinations. However ignoring the preparations, the PCB produced slow and low-bounced pitches for the house series against Britain, simply to overcome them,” Intikhab said.
“And do not inform me that individuals can not produce fast pitches; we are able to take action if we would like such pitches,” Intikhab asserted.
He explained operator Fakhar Zaman and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi were selected to the World Glass squad while they were not completely fit.
“Shaheen [in the World Cup] isn't in his correct rhythm. Had he been completely match, he may have accomplished the second run on the final ball of the match against Zimbabwe whose wicket-keeper couldn't collect the ball neatly in the first attempt.
“Pakistan also need nature's support; nothing of their outstanding class matches should be beaten up, which looms large in this World Glass,” he added.
