  • How Do You Get Nail Polish Out of a Rug?

I accidentally spilled nail polish on my rug while doing my nails. I know it's a tricky spot to clean, but does anyone have any advice on how to remove it without damaging the fabric? I've heard that using rubbing alcohol works, but I'm not sure if it's safe for all types of rugs. Has anyone tried other methods like vinegar or even a commercial cleaner? I really don’t want to end up making it worse. If anyone has had success with a particular technique, I’d love to hear it!

I had a similar problem, and I can share my method, too! I used a combination of nail polish remover and dish soap. I mixed a small amount of each with water in a spray bottle, then sprayed it directly onto the stained area. I let it sit for a minute before gently blotting with a clean cloth. After blotting, I rinsed with cold water. For tougher stains, you can try sprinkling baking soda on the affected area to absorb the last bit of polish and clean up any residue. It’s worked really well for me in the past, and my rug was left looking good as new!

I completely understand your frustration! I had the same issue once, and rubbing alcohol worked wonders for me. Here's what I did: First, I gently dabbed the stain with a paper towel to absorb the excess polish. Then, using a clean cloth and a small amount of rubbing alcohol, I gently blotted the area. You’ll want to make sure you don’t rub too hard, as that can spread the stain. Afterward, I rinsed the area with cold water to remove any leftover alcohol and let the rug air dry. The key is acting quickly, so the polish doesn’t set in! If the stain is stubborn, I suggest repeating the process. Also stained with nail polish is an option here i guess
