  • The evolution of online gaming

Recently I've been thinking about how virtual reality will change the way we think about online gaming. I had a case: my friends dragged me into a VR game. It was a completely different level of engagement - it was as if you were really there, everything was so real that even after taking off the helmet it took about ten minutes to get used to the normal world. But what struck me most was how we interacted with each other. It wasn't just "playing", but as if we were actually solving problems in the real world. So I'm thinking: how much will virtual reality change the very process of communication in games? Will there still be room for good old-fashioned text or voice chat?

Interesting question!!! It seems that VR and AR will not just change, but radically rework our perception of gaming and socializing in games. In fact, many experts are already saying that the technologies are opening the door to more emotional interaction. For example, I recently came across an article that talks about the role of emotional intelligence in future games https://unwinnable.com/2024/11/12/th...ion-in-gaming/ . It breaks down how games will be able to recognize and respond to a player's mood. Personally, I had a case where an AR game helped me connect with a person I hardly knew. Through a virtual quest, we suddenly found a common language - we are still in touch. So, I think there will still be a place for traditional forms of communication, but it will be supplemented with deeper and more interesting ways.

And I just happened to see this topic and thought: what will happen to the process of creating games in the future? After all, with the introduction of such technologies, developers will have to take into account not only mechanics and graphics, but also the player's feelings, his reaction to the virtual world. It is, of course, complicated, but it sounds as if something incredibly interesting is waiting for us. I haven't played VR or AR myself yet, but the idea of total immersion is already impressive.
